Basic Medical Needs In a country where there is one doctor for every 10,000 people, the orphanage is fortunate to have a nurse on site 24 hours a day and a pediatrician visit three times a week to care for the medical needs of the children. This portion of the ministry is critical in that with over 125 children at any one time, there are constantly medical needs that need to be attended to. By having the ability to care for these basic needs on site, it helps mini mize hospitalization and transportation costs and provide the loving, attentive care we strive to. Suggested Gift Amount:	Nourish an Infant for a Week Infant formula is vital to the growth and development of the babies in the orphanage. Empowering Education In a country where 48% of the population is illiterate, and only 50% of children have the opportunity to attend school, the children at the orphanage are being prepared for a life of opportunities through the education provided at the orphan- age. The children of school age have the opportunity to learn English and study math, science, social studies, the Bible and more. Through this gift, you will help one child attend school for a month. Suggested Gift Amount:	24 hour security Port-au-Prince is plagued with violence that includes kidnappings and voodoo sacrifices. Children are often the targets of such violence. To protect the children living in the orphanage, 24 hour security is a necessity. The orphanage is surrounded by a wall with an armed guard controlling the entrance at all times. Loving Care for a Month The orphanage employs over 100 Haitians to care for the children. This includes the nannies that work tirelessly nurturing and loving the children, those who wash clothes by hand day after day, those who cook thousands of meals each month, and those that help clean and maintain the facility. The average salary for one of our dedicated nannies is $90/month. By giving this gift, you will help us continue to provide loving care to each of the children in the orphanage. Suggested Gift Amount:	Wholesome Nutritious Meals Over 49% of the population of Haiti is malnourished. Food prices continue to rise - making this number likely to continue to rise. However, over 22,500 meals are prepared and served at the orphanage in a month! The children benefit from three meals and one to two snacks every day, a “luxury” seldom afforded in the areas of the city most of the children came from to the orphanage. Clean Water for One Child for One Month In Haiti, 54% of the population does not have access to clean, safe water to drink. This reality contributes to the death of 1 out of 10 children in Haiti before the age of four. At the orphanage, we provide clean water for the children to drink — preventing water-borne diseases and needless deaths. Suggested Gift Amount:	Ongoing Support FOR HIS GLORY Outreach and Maison des Enfants de Dieu is currently home to over 130 children, most who have been orphaned due to extreme poverty. We offer a safe place, three meals per day, clean drinking water and medical services. We offer employment to over 100 Haitian people. We offer hope. But we still must turn away 80 children per month. For His Glory Outreach is committed to reaching the unreached and to making a difference in this forgotten country.
